Summary
Wei Wuxian fell... and landed on a sidewalk 600 years in the future. Right in front of Lan Zhan and Lan Xichen, modern cultivators on their way home from a cultivation conference.
A surprising amount of historical information has been lost to time - some due to natural destruction, some due to rampant revisionism. In particular, the true identity of the Yiling Laozu has been erased from history, with no sect willing to claim him and everyone eager to hide any ties they once had to him.
As Wei Ying helps the Lans fill in the missing pieces of history, Lan Zhan knows there are things he’s not telling them. He also knows that it doesn’t matter what those secrets are; nothing will keep him from standing at Wei Ying’s side.
Eventually, Wei Wuxian has to face the fact that he can’t correct some of history’s most important oversights without coming clean about his identity. Proving to the world that he is who he says he is takes them to Lanling, where they unearth history even he didn’t know about.

Holy mother of all shits this is a genuine, gold and diamond, absolute PEAK of a fic. (Im gonna treat this like a comment lol!)
The switching around and the reveal of who each character is and what role they play is just ajaywgdhjxsb and I LOVE!!!! THE DETAILS YOU INCORPORATE IN EACH CHARACTER!!! They're not just the same person they are from the original but with different colours, no, they actually fit who they're supposed to be and have their own uniqueness !!!!!! Ouuhhgg and the wonder swords concept really helped things to go along and make sense you have such a big brain author....
Each dynamic is like a mine yet to be explored, like i'm genuinely curious what you've got in mind for them.
AND THE WRITING 💥💥💥💥💥 Its like it was meant to be in Chinese— full of poetry and flowery language that simply doesnt translate as well in English (I'm just saying its like the syle of chinese novels lol, I really like their 300-step deep meanings and 10,000 characters description of a maiden's ankles (AIRPLANE?????).) The descriptions and storytelling I had to get used to at first, but its absolutely wonderful using it to paint an image in your mind!!! AND GOD DID YOU CAPTURE SO MANY COMPLICATED FEELINGS SO WELL!!!!
Shen Yuan's takes in SO MANY THINGS is such an eye opener, like. You were meant to be wise and insightful from the start PIDW was your AWAKENING. I'm so sad at the amount of issues (as well as in bingbing my baby...) he accumulated that allowed him to have a mature (yet also naive sometimes) view on things. Of course it all circles back to you author in which YOU ARE SO WISE AND VENERABLE I BOW DOWN TO YOU!!!
Sassy System and Shen yuan acknowledging his time as Peerless Cucumber 😭😭 Give my guy a break he's living on pure spite (or more like he does it uncosciously, this fucker should STOP laying down and accepting things as is.) and internet memes 🥀🥀
I've been FEASTING on this story because it also uses a lot of characters— both original and reused and I LOVEEEE to see fics that have their surroundings affected by the MC's (and other character's) decisions, or have their own life and feelings and opinions, as well as independent character interactions!!! (SQH pov i love you). Imo this is what really makes a story feel alive and not just a reaction to what the MC is doing.
