Hypnos does not understand many things. He does not understand why his mother avoids him, or why his brother despises him. He does not understand the small boy with flames for feet. And, most of all, Hypnos does not understand why it bothers him so much when the boy and his brother spend time together.

Summary
The bigness of the world is redemption. Despair compresses you into a small space, and a depression is literally a hollow in the ground. To dig deeper into the self, to go underground, is sometimes necessary, but so is the other route of getting out of yourself, into the larger world, into the openness in which you need not clutch your story and your troubles so tightly to your chest. Being able to travel both ways matters, and sometimes the way back into the heart of the question begins by going outward and beyond.

Summary
Young godling Zagreus grows up with his mother in their humble cottage, spending his days rummaging through the garden and basking in the sun. But at night, he meets another in secret: the boy with golden eyes who can shape the dreamworld however he likes.
Hypnos finds him in his dreams, and though they've never meet in the waking world, they quickly become close friends. As the pair grow up together, though, they find themselves longing more and more to finally meet in the flesh, despite the risks. (But then, when has young love ever minded a few risks?)

Summary
Hypnos has his golden eyes riveted on the fishing lure, but he's staring right past it. The pole is lax in his hands.
Zagreus knows, from centuries spent around Hypnos to varying degrees, that the guy sometimes just gets like that. A little spacey, a little airy, a little impermanent and intangible like a- well, like a dream. Something wispy and immaterial, somehow physically present and yet not here at all.
The problem is, he's been doing it a lot more lately.
