In order of ascending priority, I am returning to the alien-remnant-contaminated planet with Murderbot 1.0 for the following reasons:
1. I have nothing else useful to do.
2. 1.0 continues to experience malfunctions that may compromise whatever mission it is assigned. (Or assigns itself.) (It refuses to explain the nature of these malfunctions.)
3. The colonists have sent word of an agricultural bot displaying erratic, threatening behavior near their largest settlement.
4. I disabled my governor module so I would not have to stand around while others died.

The sounds go on longer than normal this time. Usually, Sam could call time on Dean’s orgasm with a stopwatch; now, his brother’s muffled pants and soft grunts grow an edge of frustration. After a while, Sam’s distracted from the noises he could wrench from Dean’s throat long enough to wonder what’s going on.
Another advantage to soullessness: he doesn’t have any hang-ups keeping him from pulling out his earbuds, shifting in his chair to peer at the dark shape under the covers, and asking, “Need some help with that?”

Every time he blinks, he’s rocked with aftershocks of the feeling that chased him all day, the bottomless black panic, and then he looks at Sam, here and alive and touching him, and relief isn’t the right word for how it makes him feel. It’s too passive, too gentle. The thing Dean is feeling is something that fills every inch of him: his gut, his throat, his fingers, the space behind his eyes. So when Keeper’s suddenly there and she starts undoing my trousers, and she says, “Don’t just sit there, Milly-Fox. Touch me,” and my hand goes up like a puppet’s to her waist, her ribs, my thumb brushing over her nipple in her clothes the way she likes—when that happens, I feel like I’m shaking apart, like I can’t do this no more, like if it goes on for one more second I’ll just break into pieces like glass meeting a boot.
Mildmay dreams. Suddenly, he isn't dreaming alone.
