And sooner or later, he might try the same thing again, in reality this time, and it would not matter whether or not he had said anything now.
After entering a simulation to fix a computer gone rogue, the Doctor and Jamie wait to wake up to the real world. The knowledge that they will remember nothing when they wake up forces Jamie to make a difficult decision.

Even seeing Q at a distance far out on the dock, juggling stones in his coat pocket, head hunched against the fur-lined hood, is becoming familiar. He’s recognizing Q with something akin to affection, and realizing that every petty argument they have—petty because there’s comparatively little Q can do here to cross ethical bounds—leaves him closer and closer to understanding Q’s odd and uncanny gestures.

Summary
Sometimes it feels impossible to compare the Q described in Starfleet records to the one that pops on and off the ship at his own leisure. It really shouldn’t be, especially given that Jean-Luc has provided almost all the information, but reading Q’s description on paper is vastly different to enduring his presence.
For example, Q’s file now states that he is averse to touch with physical beings. Words that Jean-Luc himself wrote stare back at him from the screen, but he cannot bring himself to believe them.
Jean-Luc can recall a hundred casual touches: a mouth next to his temple, an arm around his shoulder, a finger tracing his ear, a hand reaching for his across his desk. These were not the behaviours of a touch-averse creature.
