Summary
A while ago, Mu Qing met a guy on a dating app, and they started dating. Everyone was super happy for them, but Feng Xin always had a lingering suspicion about him. Something was just..off about the dude. Mu Qing had always said it was because Feng Xin hated to see him happy for once in his life, (which was not true in the slightest), it was actually the complete opposite. Whenever they were together, Mu Qing always seemed so uncomfortable and tense. The guy was a dick in general, but no one else but Feng Xin seemed to understand. He was always outwardly expressive of his hate for the man, and he wanted so badly to tell Mu Qing to break up with him. Though either way, it’d probably get him slapped in the face.

Feng Xin finds himself suspicious about Mu Qing's boyfriend, but he's the only one who thinks somethings up. Something Mu Qing is hiding that goes beyond anything that Feng Xin could have ever thought. Can he help his best friend excape the cycle of living hell he's going through, while hiding the feelings he's kept suppressed along the way?

For just a moment, Mu Qing feels hope flickering his chest - but it’s soon extinguished by the vengeful spirits rising from the lava lake. Mu Qing looks down at them, shaking from pain and exhaustion, then up to Feng Xin, scowling, yelling at him to climb up and hold on so that he can draw his bow - but Mu Qing knows he can’t climb. Not from this position. Not in this state. He is a death weight, in the truest sense.
And Mu Qing knows then; he will go down. But he won’t take Feng Xin with him.
He wishes … he could go back in time.

"I can't control what goes on in your head. But a home is something warm and loving, full of life." He remembered his old home with his mother. They had nothing but each other, and that was home to Mu Qing. He loved that home.
He was not capable of being that for someone.
"A home is something good."

A slam. Feng Xin slams his fist on the bedside table. Next thing he knows, he’s buried his face in his hands.
“Stop,” he starts, shaking his head. “Please stop. I can’t. Not right now.”
Mu Qing sees him sigh; his broad shoulders sagging. He takes one deep breath, then two, then three; all of them broken down by sobs. Tears well up in his eyes and he wipes them off, but more quickly follow.
He gives up. His shoulder sag, and tears stream down his face. He reaches to hold Mu Qing’s hand. He is far too stunned to pull away; kept in place by pure shock.
He can’t remember seeing Feng Xin cry. Why would the first time be about him?
“Qing-er- you almost died.”
Mu Qing really doesn't think he's an addict, until he hits rock bottom. But it can only go uphill from there.

Mu Qing sucked in a big breath, trying to collect himself enough to speak coherently. “Xiao Mi…” was all he was able to get out before letting another sob tumble out from his throat.
Ah…that would explain it.
Feng Xin combed through Mu Qing’s hair with his fingers, letting him cry as he started to piece together what was going on.
It was Mu Qing’s cat, Xiao Mi.

"Can you… show me what we used to do?" Mu Qing suddenly climbed on top of him, leaning down with anxiety in his eyes.
"What we used to do? Like what?" Feng Xin tried not to make any sudden movements, afraid he might scare Mu Qing away. His heart was racing so fast he worried it was audible.
"Like…" Mu Qing put up his hands, but they floated anxiously in the air. "I don't know."
Feng Xin smiled and gently took hold of Mu Qing's wrists. He brought them towards himself, so that Mu Qing's palms rested on either side of his face.
"Here. You see?"----
Feng Xin’s love for Mu Qing is reignited when he runs into him 800 years later - as a Ghost King.
