He’s taken sips every five minutes for the past twenty years, true, but quitting only takes five days, it says. It can’t be that hard, right?
…at this rate, he’ll be happy if he makes it past day three.

Prompt Fill:
The crew is captured and restrained in a dungeon, even Yennefer is subdued. The bad guys decide that to torture Geralt most they are going to take his bard into the next room and make him listen while they make him scream.There's plenty of screams alright.
They don't belong to Jaskier.
Turns out our bard is a lot more than human and is more than capable of taking care of himself. After slaughtering the bad guys he casually strolls in and saves them both.

The invitation arrived at Kaer Morhen in spring, when the last of the snow had turned icy and sparkled like diamonds in the sun. The days were clear and brisk, the nights still bitterly cold. Geralt had been brushing Roach in the sun when the hawk had arrived with a scroll attached to its leg.
The parchment was fine and the penmanship impeccable. It formally invited Witcher Geralt of Rivia, the White Wolf, to Venaria for the nuptials of Julian Alfred Pankratz, the Viscount of Lettenhove.
The letter went on, all about the groom and the date and gods knew what else, but Geralt didn't read it. His hands involuntarily twitched, tearing the parchment a bit.
Julian Alfred Pankratz. Jaskier. Was getting married.

Summary
Yennefer was able to save Jaskier's life after the djinn and Geralt's unintentional wish, but at the cost of his voice. Now the man whose identity was built on his singing, wordplay, and verbal charm has to figure out how to exist in the world without those things. Thankfully, navigating that is easier when you have people who love you trying to help you manage it.

“I always thought it’d be you,” Eskel grunted at him that night, over beers. Geralt glanced over at where Yennefer was sat over at the bar, leaning in too close to Jaskier’s personal space and laughing in a rare, care-free manner.
Geralt didn’t know which one Eskel was talking about. But…he was right either way. Geralt had thought it would be him too. In fact, he’d spent a few nights muttering to Roach as he led her into her stable about how he could never choose between the two. “Yeah,” he muttered, throat dry no matter how much of his drink he gulped down.
