Neil can’t tell if anyone else realizes it, but they’re all, at the least, attuned enough to Andrew’s general demeanor not to fight the dismissal. They file out slowly, wishing him well and promising to visit again in the morning. Kevin reaches for the handles of Neil’s wheelchair as if to bring him with them. Neil bats his hand away without even a glance. He can feel the glare Kevin sends his way, but Neil couldn’t care less about him right now.
Look at me.
The feeling burns hot in his chest; a forest-fire filling his lungs, torching his skin, licking away at the last of his composure.
When the door closes behind Kevin, Neil’s self-control is set ablaze.

Does a relationship need sex to survive?
No. But why?
Because no one should have an expectation of sex pre-set when entering a relationship. Because the emotional connection on which a romantic affiliation thrives does not require sex. Because eventually, libido is going to run out and old, married couples don’t divorce just because they no longer have a sex drive. Because the difference between platonic relationships and romantic isn’t just fucking each other.

Sometimes Aaron wonders if they were put together in the hospital, the way many twins are paired up for skin to skin. Because they’re not used to being alone. Because they naturally reach out for each other. Because being pressed up chest to chest releases oxytocin. Did he and Andrew have that? Or were they separated before they even got to know each other’s smell? He wonders if that’s why there’s sometimes this empty pocket inside of him where nothing else seems to fit.

Kevin leans in, so close Jean can see the kaleidoscope of green in his eyes. Lighter, darker, with small brown spots Jean noticed in the sunlight once and has been trying not to obsess over ever since. He stops just a breath away when his nose brushes against Jean’s, very softly, very devastatingly.
He makes a soft hm sound like he’s solving a puzzle of how to proceed.
"Tilt your head," Jean hints, tapping his index finger to Kevin’s jaw. He could do it himself—he has thought of the mechanics often enough to almost know what to do—but he can’t let go of the idea of having Kevin be the one to make the first move. If this insanity is to happen, if Kevin wants to break yet another rule just because he can, Jean wants to forever hold the knowledge that it was Kevin who kissed him first.
Kevin obeys, and it brings them even closer, just a little tilt of the chin away.
or, Kevin has a very, very bad idea.

Neil's been on his feet for the last thirty-six hours. His leg is aching, his interns are all idiots, his charge nurse thinks he should've gone home hours ago, but Neil can't bring himself to leave the knowing chaos of the ER.
He tells himself he'll see one more patient. One more, then he'll clock out.
Except, Neil's last patient of the day turns out to be a professional exy player, who's just punched another doctor, might be hiding some knives, and seems determined to notice everything Neil is trying to hide.
And, well - maybe Neil doesn't want to hide from one Andrew Minyard.

Neil is an emergency physician and Andrew is a pro exy player who keeps finding himself in Neil's ER. Oblivious flirting ensues.
