And then Katsuki would throw it back at him—because he’s a fucking idiot who’s just as in love—and argue that he couldn’t live without Shouto either, so if one of them gets to have a choice, it’d be him.

He spent decades in the void between life and death, floating suspended in the stardust that cursed him when he was young and new. He was aware of everything and conscious of nothing. Flashes of light that never dimmed, explosions held in the moment of igniting; he was and is and will be and always has been. Death was not what waited for him on the other side—there was no other side. There was only that moment of light and color for all of existence, all of space and time. It would reach its beginning, but never its end. He would live there in everywhere with no thought but feelings, infinitely slow and impossible to comprehend.
Perhaps he never actually died. Perhaps he only felt limbo, where a soul waits for its vessel to become again. Perhaps there is an afterlife, where he’ll be conscious and comfortable for the real forever.
God, he would hate that. He was much too tired for forever.
