“It was a beautiful game,” one woman had said, a gorgeous blonde with an endearing European accent that could’ve been from anywhere, “how do you feel now?”
On top of the fucking world, Patrick had wanted to say. A phantom utterance: Code violation. Audible obscenity. Point penalty, Zweig—On top of the whole damn world, he would correct.
Instead, with a distinct ringing in his ears, he had said, “Great,” and felt the fresh trickle of sweat fall down his nose and drop to the cement where they were huddled, “Really, really great."

Not all bad." Jesy taps at the image on the card and nods. "Him I like. Look at him casting his light, nourishing the four little flowers in the back. He's an engine, burning brightly. Illuminating the dark corners. He's growth. Newness. Reconciliation...” Harry shakes his head and moves for the door. Opens it just as she says, “for all five of you.”
There’s a flutter and a commotion from behind him and then Rover is winging past him through the door, making her way out into the dark. The night air is cold on his face and it feels like relief. Like an escape.
“Four of us.” Liam sounds a little uncertain.
“What was that?”
“There’s just four of us, not five.”
“Oh…” her voice trails off as Harry steps out into the moonlight. “Well, like he said, it’s mostly bullshit anyway. Can’t get everything right.”

He’s already got his hackles up, like a pavlovian response to Zayn’s interfering. He’s just…amped up tonight. Feels like he can’t slow down. Like he’s a big ball of potential energy and needs someone to exhaust it on. There’s no one in the bar to chat up and he’s not interested in pulling tonight anyway…doesn’t want the bother of muddling through a conversation with a complete stranger, of tucking away his sharp bits and playing nice and taking a warm body home just so he can pretend for a night that his flat isn’t so cold and empty and winter isn’t just around the corner.
Or: the uni au where everything is regular-style, except Zayn is a vampire and Louis' just found out by accident...

He keeps crying when Niall picks him up out of his cot and it seems he doesn’t stop for three days."Post-Zayn canon fic. Zayn steps in to help Niall deal with Theo. Niall isn't sure how to deal with Zayn.
This is sort of a mish-mash of a couple of my prompts, including canon pining and single dad Niall with optional accidental baby acquisition. I couldn't figure out how to give Niall a baby without something terribly sad happening, so I opted for an extended babysitting gig. I hope it works! <3
