Summary
With the time dwindling until her flight starts to board, Annabeth Chase nearly misses her plane to New York. Thankfully, she makes it with 25 minutes to spare. Except a freak, unforeseen snowstorm hits the city, canceling all flights to New York for the time being.
Annabeth has two choices: stay in San Francisco until flights are available again, either booking a hotel, or worse... going home. Or she can accompany the stranger she met at her gate and make the 43-hour drive to Manhattan.

Annabeth glanced over at Jason briefly before giving Percy’s bicep a small but purposeful squeeze. Good God, she thought to herself. She hoped her reaction wasn’t too obvious as she smiled and shrugged lightly too. “Probably.”
His eyes flickered with something and she wondered if he wanted to kiss her as badly as she wanted to kiss him. She shouldn’t have wanted to kiss him this badly, she’d only known him for less than a day, but something continued to pull her to him. Percy stepped infinitesimally closer, his hand gentle but incessant on her back. There was no space between their chests now. God, she hoped he wanted to kiss her.

Percy turned, spotting who he assumed Octavian was talking about. A girl with blonde curls tied up in a bun, clad in a pale blue sweater with her nose in a book. She was so wrapped up in it that she hadn’t noticed Percy and the dozen of his friends turn to stare at her. He recognized her, though he couldn’t put a finger on her name.
He turned back around. “What about her?”
“Hook up with her,” Octavian said simply.
Percy laughed. “I don’t think she’d be interested in me.” Just from first glance, they looked like complete opposites.

Percy laid down, rolling to face the wall with his back to her. He didn’t know why it unnerved him so much, it wasn’t like they’d never slept in the same room before. Still, the silence wasn’t helping matters much.
Annabeth clicked off the lamp, shrouding the room in total darkness with only a slim line of light coming in above the curtains. If he could just keep his eyes closed for long enough, he’d have to fall asleep, right?

Just a one time thing, a clean break. But a few hours later, she’d gone in search of breakfast and noticed the bright yellow sticky note above her doorknob, with his full name and phone number scrawled across the middle and a smiley face in one corner.
She rolled her eyes, dropped it onto the stack of papers on her drafting table, and told herself she would throw it away later.
But - for some reason that Annabeth can’t quite rationalize - she never did.
