Summary
Fluixon spent his life seeing the world as a web of tangled, messy connections—lines to be trimmed, knots to be loosened, lives to be redirected before they become burdens with a simple flick of his wrist. Connection, to him, was weakness.

Saparata stands on a small rock formation jutting out from the water. When they make eye contact, he grins and shoves his hands in his pockets. “Come save me!”
Fluixon blinks—is he hallucinating? No. This Saparata doesn’t have dimples, his hair is an inch or two too long, and his eyes are more dull, less spirited and alive. More importantly, Saps is asleep below the deck. Fluixon flips him off.
“Hey,” Saparata whines, “that’s mean.”
“Pretending to be my friend is mean too.” Flux snaps.

They start to pull away, and D3rlord3 desperately gathers his remaining strength to latch on to anything . Nothing wants to cooperate, his body suddenly aching with effort, but still he– fights. He grabs on to their hand, fighting through the smoke and haze, ignoring how his muscles scream in protest and his eyes sting, but it fades to nothing when D3rlord3 touches them again, something unreachable finally in his arms and he can't lose them, he can't—
“Stay,” he croaks out, begging.
