Summary
Set a few years after graduation, mikes fantasy novels based on his childhood have become well known and sold all over America. Though fame does very little to keep Mike content, he longs for something more, something he hasn't had in years. will is a struggling artist in NY. He collects mikes books, cherishing every single one. They cross paths again at a book signing for Mikes newest novel, and the rest is history.
(I will try to get all the chapters out in the next week. I am blowing through them while I have the motivation)

Summary
The most logical decision Vertin made for her team was utilising her suitcase as the headquarters for the arcanists under her care. It's capable of housing their growing numbers, which have exceeded 60. It is self-sufficient, with its ability to grow plant life within. It is immune to the effects of the Storm, meaning even if their missions are to be ended abruptly by it, retreat is simple. It is portable, only needing a single arcanist to be its carrier as well as its guard. It's fashionable, looking good wherever the Timekeeper would go. Even Madam Z approved of this decision, and she's no fool.
Yet it was also the most illogical decision she has ever made, because the most illogical thing you can do in this world is stuffing a bunch of arcanists into one bag and expecting nothing to happen. These are merely a droplet in the sea of stories of the chaos within the suitcase.

The redhead moves closer to Hargrove, kneeling on some of Will’s drawings. He groans softly, like he can sense her approaching, and one of his hands flinches. By the pathetic sound he makes, Steve thinks the jerk isn’t in attack mode any more; he might actually be trying to get away from her.
“You’re okay, dipshit,” Max sighs before turning to the police chief. “He will be okay, right?”
“Should be,” Hopper replies, though by the way his mouth twitches nobody really buys it.
“Maybe Hargrove should go to the hospital too,” Dustin offers, his brows knitting together. “He kind of got punched a few times, and that tranquilizer was meant for Will. But, like, possessed Will.”
“Your choice, kid.”
Max turns towards Hopper, confused.
“What do you mean?”
—This is an AU which starts at the end of s2 and tries to fill in some of the gaps. This is also my attempt at having Hopper and Joyce more or less adopt Max and Billy. The usual background pairings apply, but this is mainly a Harringrove story with implied Byler.

The Squawk had become their cover, their communication hub, their war room. Robin did the actual broadcasts mostly playing music and reading pre-written community updates approved by the military presence in town, but the real purpose was the coded messages. Steve had helped her set up the whole system, spending hours figuring out how to get all the sound effects she wanted, taping things to walls and attempting to MacGyver random things around the station.
That was just who Steve was, but looking around the room now, Robin wondered more and more if anyone else actually saw that.

As Mike stood there, braced for death, everything seemed to stop. And when he looked, and saw the Demogorgon writhing mid-air, as if it was being held by some unseeable force, Mike’s first thought was Eleven. Relief washed over him, flooding his body as he thanked god that they were safe – that Will was safe.
But when it was not El, but Will, stood there, arms outstretched, face scrunched in a mixture of concentration and determination, it was not relief that Mike felt, it was complete, bone shattering awe. Absolute adoration. A feeling like no other he had ever experienced.

Seriously, she comes in here out of nowhere and thinks she knows Will better than Mike? “I never said he couldn’t.” Mike shoots back. “Plus, are you guys seriously just friends?” Mike says, his eyes narrowing. And again, Robin's eyebrows shoot up. “Very much so, just friends. Like, the emphasis on very is almost comical-” Robin laughs nervously and quickly shuts herself up. “But, why would it matter so much?” Robin continues, a different look in her eye. “It doesn’t matter.” Mike says. “I was just asking.” Any and all forms of tears that might’ve been on Mike’s face are gone now, because he's strictly just annoyed. “Look, I promise you we’re just friends. Sometimes… you just need someone to go to for other things. He’s still your best friend, Wheeler.”
