Lately, he and Izuku only texted once every two weeks, or even less—a random meme one of them found on twitter, the usual “hey u alive?”, and the monthly check-up video call.
It was normally Izuku who initiated the conversations nowadays, though, Katsuki found it easier to not think about the fact that his best friend didn’t love him back if they weren't constantly texting.
Not that he succeeded, anyway.

“Even without Gearshift’s help,” continues Kacchan. “Even if you used Gearshift.”
His eyelashes cast a barely-there shadow as he spreads Izuku’s hand over his cheek, and then parts his lips just barely around the pad of Izuku’s thumb when it swipes against them again in its uncoordinated pliability. Kacchan’s fingers fit around the back of Izuku’s hand to hold it there, and he kisses his thumbpad again.
And again. Izuku can feel his own heartbeat in his ears.
“Ain’t gonna say nothin’ to that?”
"U-uh," stutters Izuku.

“You’re the fucking worst,” Kacchan growls. He kisses Izuku twice, eliciting laughter in response.
“Is that a no?”
“Is that a no,” The blond mocks, offering a play bite to Izuku’s cheek before rolling the shorter adult off of him. Kacchan sits up, runs his hands rapidly through his spiked hair, much like he did when he confessed the first time, and pads his way to his dresser and towards a souvenir from his time abroad. He removes something from the bottom and returns to Izuku, sitting beside the green-haired analyst. He holds up a rose gold object between his thumb and knuckle of his pointer finger. “You’re fucking full of shit.”
