“That’s fucked up,” Hongjoong says after several long seconds. Seonghwa knows that’s the nicest language he can manage right now and it almost makes him smile. “Tell me that you understand that, Seonghwa.”

Summary
Hongjoong works at the executive lounge of Conrad Seoul Hotel as a bartender, serving the hotel's VIP guests each evening. This is where he meets Seonghwa, a guest at the hotel on a romantic getaway with his partner - or - what was supposed to be a romantic getaway with his partner, if he hadn't caught the man cheating a few weeks before.
Instead of ordering a drink at Hongjoong's bar, he requests a glass of milk to dip the cookies his mother packed him in a special breakup bag. He comes with the same request each evening, and as the nights pass, they learn more about one another, about Seonghwa's breakup, and about his hesitance to indulge in all the couple things he planned to do alone or else he'd be reminded of the breakup.
In a spur of the moment decision, Hongjoong volunteers to take his ex's place, being the boost Seonghwa needs to enjoy the trip.
And enjoy the trip, they do.

Summary
It’s happened enough times by now that it feels like a running joke. Seonghwa throws out a complaint about never being praised properly. Hongjoong meets it with an easy grin and just enough teasing in his tone to keep it from tipping into anything serious. The members laugh, the staff laughs too, and the moment passes like it always does.
And afterward, Seonghwa leaves everything exactly as it is. He straightens his posture, gathers whatever dignity remains, and pretends—very convincingly, he thinks—that he has absolutely no deeper emotional investment in the situation whatsoever.
Seonghwa tells himself he is above fishing for compliments. This belief lasts right up until Hongjoong is the one withholding them.
