He fought so hard to keep his relationship to his children, to his now ex-wife, even as he went through the motions of rehab and recovery and constant HR meetings and random piss tests everyone conspicuously pretended weren't happening. Mel considers her morning— thinks about looking at her body the way she imagines Frank does— and gives a light shrug.
“I just wanted to,” she tells him, and it’s the truth.
“Jesus, I just want you,” he tells her, curling an arm around her waist, tugging her in to bite a kiss just behind her ear.
