The thing that looked like Nacho was riddled with bullet holes. Moonlight filtered through them, dappling Lalo's chest and the concrete walls of the sewer in silvery light. Lalo had been seeing it for quite some time, but getting used to such a thing didn't seem possible.
It was small, only as tall as Nacho had been, and it was shrinking all the time, ashen skin drawing tight around its bones as it rotted. It said, its voice thick with dirt and blood and regret, "I know you miss me."

There was one girl at the end of the table, wearing a baby blue juicy tracksuit, her blonde hair pulled back into a ponytail. She was sending rapid-fire texts with one hand and eating grilled chicken and rice with the other. She was a little more stereotypically All-American than Abed would usually feel comfortable approaching, but most of the tables up here were occupied by guys or people who clearly weren’t freshmen, both of which were scarier in their own way.
“You’re good. I gotta leave soon anyway.” She answered without looking up from the text she was sending.
Abed saw the Greendale University Cheerleading logo embroidered on the backpack that’s taking up the seat next to her. “You’re on the cheer team? That’s cool, I’m not exactly an extracurricular type person but my dad said I really should be if I’m going to make friends or whatever.”
That actually made her look up from her phone, which is how Abed knows they’ve definitely said too much.
