Summary
Aether had only gone out to catch some fish. He did not anticipate to spot a human ship so close to his home. To keep the rest of the merfolk safe, he chose to lure them away. His plan heavily backfired when the humans severely wounded him and captured him. He had begun to accept his fate. He’d either be sold or killed by these humans, never to return to the sea he calls his home. But then suddenly the ship he was being held captive in is attacked by Alatus’ ship. Now he is faced with a new problem… pirates.

Xiao coughs lightly, “Don’t be foolish. I am merely offering my aid, as I’ve heard that child-rearing can be… a lot to handle on one’s own.”
Aether should have known it wouldn't be easy, raising a child, let alone raising one with someone he may or may not be developing feelings for. It certainly doesn't help that the child almost looks... exactly like them.
