Celine grabbed Rumi’s hand and brought it up to Rumi’s own chest. “It is your destiny because you are the connection that the honmoon has been waiting for. The honmoon does not make mistakes, and you, my little marshmallow, are not a mistake. Your soul, your heart, is good. You are strong. It is your destiny because without you, the honmoon would fracture. You are going to make everything right."
Rumi looked at the small patch of patterns that strung along her shoulders and breathed deeply. Gods she hoped Celine was right.

He raised an eyebrow and twirled her around quickly, until her back was pressed to his chest and he ducked his head until his lips were right against her ear and hummed. “Well then I’d tell you how amazing you look, and how much I’d like to leave a mark on your pretty skin.” He ducked lower and nosed at the juncture between her neck and shoulder. Her head tilted to the side, giving him more room to explore. He grazed his teeth against the smooth expanse of skin, making Buck gasp and tighten her hold on his hand where it laid against her stomach.
“Eds…” She gasped and spun around in his hold, standing on her toes. “Need you to take me home now. Please.” Eddie stood straight and furrowed his brow worriedly. Did he take it too far? Was that too much for being in a bar that smelled of tobacco and stale beer? She must have seen something in his eye because she simply pulled the hand still holding hers to her lips and gave a soft kiss before leaning close to his lips, letting her lips ghost over his. “Really need you to fuck me and I’d rather not do it in a trashy bar bathroom the first time.” She nipped lightly on his bottom lip.

Summary
The ride to the hospital went fast enough but to Buck, it stretched for hours, days, months. The gauze beneath her hands soaking through with Eddie’s blood, the same blood that was currently swimming in Buck’s mouth and coating her skin.
Later she’d remember him waking up to ask if she’d been hurt, but at the moment all she could think about was the fact that she had been too much of a coward to admit her feelings and now the chance was slipping through her fingers.
Eventually the engine pulled to a stop and Buck moved on auto pilot, helping the others get Eddie onto the stretcher, watching as they wheel him through the glass doors and had to remind herself that they weren’t supposed to go past the glass doors. Eddie shouldn’t have to go beyond them either.
“Buckley, you good?” Mehta asked, slapping a hand down onto her shoulder. The touch was a shock to her system and seemed to bring her back to reality.
“No.” Buck said simply before turning and threw up.

She felt the bed dip next to her and then a body was hovering over hers, stroking her sides gently. “Well, Evelyn, you’re stressing over nothing. They’ve already met you once before at my shield ceremony. They won’t care what you’re wearing.”
Buck reached up, holding his hips and opened one eye. “The last time they met me, I was just your work partner, plus I was not at my best. I had a stupid cast and was on crutches and hadn’t been able to shower properly. And you know you’re lying, your mom will care what I’m wearing. You’ve told me enough Shannon stories to know that appearances matter, especially on a holiday.”

She should run- should act like the demon she was and run away from the demon hunters despite how desperately she wanted to be near them.
She should find Jinu. He was a demon too, a demon who hated what he was and understood Rumi, who had promised to make the Saja Boys lose tonight.
But Mira and Zoey were right there- Mira and Zoey.
How could she run away from the people she wanted nothing more than to spend her life close to.
She had been so close, so close to finally being able to fully lean into Zoey’s hugs, to taking off her long-sleeves during morning treadmill runs with Mira, to going to that damn bathhouse with them.
(She had been so close to being something good enough to let them see.)
She couldn't run from them. (Rumi was tired, so tired.)

But Chris had just spent six months living in his dad’s childhood bedroom, surrounded by evidence of his youth. His baseball trophies decorated the shelves. Yellowed posters of older emo bands were taped to the wall. Pictures of him and his high school friends were pinned to a cork board. His poorly graded tests sat in the drawers of the desk. Bed sheets patterned with race cars adorned the duvet. It was a kid’s bedroom. And it belonged to his dad.
