“No fucking way. He’s not going to care about some tiny facility out in the middle of nowhere.” As Player shoots back, Snake looks uncaring to the way they speak of him like he’s some sort of nightmare creature.
“Then all of the other places that were working on Metal Gears that got blown up are just freak coincidences?“ Cleaner abruptly said, “Face it. He’s back in the field, and he’s going after places like this.”
“The government isn’t going to send him to buttfuck, North Carolina.”
Facemask shakes his head. “He’s not working with the government.”
“How do you know that? How do you know any of this?” Otacon can recognize the attempt to disrupt a panicked spiral, leaning in closer to hear better. Snake just sits calmly.
“Because I met him.”
The air is practically sucked out of the room. Snake leans in with a voice laced with a thousand probing edges, one unpleasantly reminding Otacon of Liquid. It sounds different in his smoke-laden snarl, but not different enough to change the intent. “Is that so?”
