Summary
Shane has a bit of a competitive streak. He can't just turn it off even if the game is Scrabble, and there is nothing riding on it. Not even if his boyfriend is at a distinct disadvantage with the whole English being his second language thing.
It's okay though because Ilya is competitive too, but his idea of victory is less concrete. Sometimes victory is the time they get to spend together without worrying who might catch them. Sometimes, it is getting Shane to blush every time he spells out a dirty word on the Scrabble board. Sometimes, it's keeping Shane's spiraling thoughts away with promises of satisfying prizes.
In the end, it doesn't really matter who wins the game. They'll both get what they want. (Unless, you ask Shane because he would say it very much does matter who wins, and that winner is him.)

“Hollander? You are still here?” Rozanov called, breaking the TV static silence filling Shane’s head. He blinked.
“Uh. Yeah, just leaving,” he answered, surprised by how steady his voice sounded. Good, that was good. He knew he couldn’t show Rozanov any weakness if he wanted to keep coming back.
But did he want to come back if it made him feel like this?
“Door is too heavy? Or I fuck you too good, you cannot move legs,” came Rozanov’s taunting response. Shane could practically see the tilted smirk on his face, cigarette smoke wafting around his freshly-showered curls.
“Fuck off, Rozanov,” Shane muttered.
