“You have been alone all this time, haven’t you?” She lowers herself to the ground, crouching next to the small creature and allows it to smell the light in her hand, her fingers. She wonders at his ability to still exist. She shakes her head, thinking that it took her all but a minute to start talking to it.
What do you see, Galadriel? Looks can be deceiving.
She laughs at the thought, taps the top of her thigh, and delights when the little creature jumps up and yields to her fingers rubbing its velvety black ears.

And not just marry anyone, but a Caster. A woman born with special abilities, magic given to the people of Avonlea by a star centuries ago, a woman that is able to manipulate the world around her. Someone who can call a hurricane or cause an avalanche with the wave of her hand. Avonlea is a small kingdom that requires protection, so only a Caster Queen will do. For centuries, the Caster Queen is chosen through a competition called the Casting Trials, where eligible young Caster ladies grow their abilities and compete for the hand of the prince.

This will get pretty dark at times, some scenes will blur the lines in consent, and there will be scenes dealing with self harm and may trigger some people. This isn't going to be our sweet, perfect not so secret feminist Gilbert and Anne is going to be very different.
