Summary
George just breathes and he kind of wants this with him forever, wants this closeness at home too, sides stuck together during movie nights. He wants to wake up after accidentally falling asleep and see Dream’s face in front of him, resting on grey sheets they temporarily share.
He’s struck with it so suddenly and he thinks about the plan, years all in one house and then places close together. To start their separate lives. And the words grow on his tongue to maybe instead stay as they are forever. With dishes on high shelves he struggles to reach and gripping onto each other during nervous car rides.
Or, spending Christmas with Dream's family forces them both to struggle with the dynamic they'd settled into when George arrived in Florida. Maybe it's time they stopped pretending their friendship is normal.

He’s technically home now, actually. It just doesn’t feel that way yet.
It’s a new country, a new house, a new bed. Even the air feels different, sharp with the chill of air conditioning, apparently always running to keep the humidity down.
When he moves to Florida, George sleeps in Dream’s bed.

It’s not until George is finally drifting off to sleep, feeling sticky and used, that he really sees it. He sees the man he used to be, brazen and content. He misses that man dearly.
He wonders how he withered away into bruises on thighs and scarring on wrists. He wonders if he could still turn back or if it’s too late for him.
He wraps his arms tighter around himself, sobbing silently as his fingers dig into his rib cage. He doesn’t want to spend the rest of his life like this. But he doesn't want to die tonight, either.

Maybe it's time George let somebody love him.
