Summary
On Diluc's 18th birthday, the Delusion doesn't backfire, and Crepus comes out of the bloodbath unscathed. Although Diluc is injured, he survives and is very traumatized. Despite this, Kaeya still confesses to Diluc about his past, and after their fight, Diluc leaves Mondstadt, scared to return. It isn't until almost 6 years later that he is found.

Diona despised Diluc. She absolutely hated him with every fiber of her being. He was the devil in her eyes
But when Draff forgets to pick her up from the Cat's Tail at night while it's pouring rain, Diluc offers to let her stay with him in Angel's Share for the night so she isn't stuck outside in the rain all night. Diona reluctantly agrees and learns that the man she has been relentlessly hating for years isn't as evil as she thought he was.

When Capitano and Tartaglia captured him, he thought he knew what they were going to do to him. It seemed reasonable since he had killed hundreds of their men.

Diluc didn't like parties. Everyone knew that. He just wasn't a people person. If he received an invite to a large event, such as a gala or a fundraiser, he would show his face for 15 minutes before silently leaving.
Yet here he was, standing in the corner of the Knight's ballroom with a glass of whiskey in his hand as he people-watched and listened to the music. Kaeya was making him stay, and if he didn't he would tell Adelinde, who had forced him to go.

Diluc was secretive about his time away from Mondstadt. Kaeya knew this all too well, having spent countless evenings in the tavern with his questions dodged and unanswered. Anytime something remotely related to his travels was being talked about, the topic of conversation was switched.
Though, when an unfamiliar man came in one night claiming he recognized Diluc, things changed.

Summary
Diluc and Kaeya had been working all day with no end in sight. Diluc was swamped with work neither Varka nor Eroch wanted to do, so Kaeya decided to help him. If they didn't finish in time, Crepus would be angry that they weren't home before curfew. Diluc didn't like making him angry.
Thankfully, Crepus wrote to them telling the two he was heading out to Liyue for business, meaning they technically had no curfew. After writing to Adelinde, they finish their work and Kaeya is ready to head home, but Diluc, with a wine bottle stolen from the cellar, has other plans for the two that night.

Eula was prideful. She was arrogant, stuck-up, and loved to get her vengeance. From inside a jail cell, she couldn't do much. Jean had lost hope, and Diluc was a disaster— even more of a disaster than he was before the Fatui captured him with the city. Even though she couldn't fight, she could talk, and she did. It was all she could do. She chirped the guards, yelled at them, and talked as much as she could. Maybe too much.
Now she was being strapped down to a cold metal table by multiple Fatui agents. No matter how hard she kicked and screamed, her fate was sealed. Dottore stood over her with that stupid bird mask and that stupid big grin on his face, observing her.

"Diluc, who are 'they'?"
"The Fatui. They're marching here now, Dottore, Pantalone, Capitano and Tartaglia are with them to take the city. We can't beat them or stop them, Kae. You need to leave!”
"Wait— Diluc, slow down. What are you talking about?"
"The Fatui are on their way to invade Mondstat right now. They're going to take all of the Knights to make sure no one rebels. I know they will. You have to leave!"

The Fatui plan and execute an invasion of the City of Mondstadt at night, led by Dottore, Pantalone, Capitano, and Tartaglia. Diluc manages to warn Kaeya before they get to him, giving him time to flee the city so he may seek help from the neighboring countries.
However, they both know that Diluc isn't getting out of this unscathed.

Summary
Diluc has been gone for over 3 years. Kaeya tries to write him but gets no response until a letter shows up addressed to him. Diluc says Dottore has captured him and not to search for him since he'll probably be dead by the time he finds him. Kaeya doesn't listen, and now he's sitting across from Diluc in one of Dottore's prison cells.
Dottore makes Diluc tell Kaeya everything he has done during his time away.

Day 6 - Unhealthy coping mechanisms---
The Delusion had not been kind to Diluc's body.
It had caused nothing but destruction and death the three years he used it, and even when he stopped, it had left its mark. It had burned scars on his left arm and given him muscle spasms. It caused paranoia and panic attacks. As the Winery demanded more of him and his need to protect the city grew stronger, he became increasingly exhausted. The panic attacks went from once every other week to once every other day, and he was constantly distracted or on edge, unable to get work done. Adelinde noticed and forced him to see a psychiatrist and he was prescribed with medication to help.
He becomes reliant on it and runs out of it faster than he thought he would, leading to him having a panic attack at Angel's Share with no medicine to help him.

What would happen if someone’s vision was broken? Like the Vision’s stolen by the Vision Hunt Decree, it might go grey and be unusable. The person would lose their memory and ambition, and be a husk of who they once were.
Kaeya walked into the Dawn Winery, predicting Adelinde coming up and bowing, being all polite before telling him, “The young master is upstairs in the master bedroom.” And he would hop up the stairs, skipping a step each time, before walking down the hall. Everytime he paused in front of the door, taking a deep breath. Then he would open the door to see Diluc.
Clutching his broken pyro vision.

Diluc knew something was wrong with him, but he didn't have the time to care. He hadn't slept well the past week and had been working nonstop. From what the underground intelligence network told him, the Abyss Order was highly active, possibly planning something, but so far, he hadn't seen anything in the city. That didn't mean he could just take a break. He had to stay alert.
It didn't matter that he was exhausted, sick, and injured, he had to protect the city at all cost. If he didn't, who would?

Day 11 - "leave no trace behind like you don't even exist"---
Kaeya usually walked by the mansion on his way to and from work. He wished he had the key to the lock around the handles, but only Elzer and Diluc knew where they were and Elzer never bothered to go in there.
That's why when he saw the lock lying on the ground and the two wooden doors wide open when walking back to work, he thought he was still dreaming or had died.
When he went inside, he saw his estranged brother, who he hadn't seen in 3 years, packing everything up into boxes. Whatever relief he had felt for Diluc being alive vanished when he found out Diluc was selling the mansion and hadn't even thought to give Kaeya any warning.

It all started after Diluc had gotten hit in the head with a Hydro attack from an Abyss Lector. The next morning, his head was killing him, so he thought he possibly had a concussion, but then something weird happened.
"Diluc, can you come here for a moment?" Adelinde called, and he hummed, walking out of his room.
"Yes, Addie? Did you need need something?" Diluc said, looking over the railing. Adelinde walked out of the kitchen and looked up at him.
"I didn't say anything, Master Diluc," She said before returning to the kitchen. Diluc narrowed his eyes before stepping back into his room.
Strange.

Day 3 — "I warned you."---
Diluc always opposed Eroch no matter what.Whether in meetings or interviews for job positions, he always disagreed with what the Inspector had to say and was always right. It made Eroch furious that a 16-year-old was blatantly disrespecting and humiliating him. Then, the teen started getting into his affairs. He warned him to stay out of his business, but Diluc didn't listen and went further, threatening to tell Varka.
Instead of making up a reason to fire him, he tried to get rid of him entirely by sending him on a dangerous mission, hoping he wouldn't return.

Day 1 - panic attack---
Adelinde was leaving.
Not forever, no. Just for a week or two. She decided to visit her older sister, who had moved to Fontaine when she was younger and who she had just now reconnected with again after years of no contact. Elzer would be gone on a business trip to Liyue at the same time.
That meant Diluc would be alone in the Winery for the first time since returning home, which worried her immensely.

Diluc didn’t take good care of himself. He thought it was a waste of time, and he often denied himself any rest. Despite not taking care of himself, that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t take care of others. Jean is the same way, and he knows that, especially when he finds Jean asleep at her desk with a fever.
After making sure Jean didn't work herself to death, he tries to talk to Kaeya about his time away, but it goes horribly, horribly, wrong.

He had dissociative amnesia until they tried hypnosis, and it worked, but now he was forever traumatized by those memories of what happened. Even though it happened while he was a child, he still remembers it vividly and it still affects him even as an adult.
