“‘Family’,” the Knave echoes the word, drawing it out like a blade. “A curious choice of description.”
“Is it?” Lauma bristles, “I thought it rather apt.”
The Knave looks away from her, crossing her arms and cocking a hip. “Family can mean many things, Lady Moonchanter.”
Lauma has more in common with Arlecchino than she thinks.

Summary
Set directly after the events of And the Stars Shine the Same -- Elrond’s two new wards both struggle to feel at home in Rivendell. The wounds from their slavery in King Frumgar’s court are still fresh, and the scars are deep -- and they’re not the only ones. Maglor is home at last, but each day he lives he is haunted by guilt and grief. Elrond is nothing if not patient, and he is certain that given enough time in Rivendell, all three will heal.
Meanwhile, the twins set out to join Legolas and investigate the source of the mysterious Shadow which attacked Rivendell, but are held up in Rhovanion. In Greenwood, something evil festers beneath the trees. Only Lothlorien, protected by Nenya, seems to be safe...but for how long?
Rhovanion stands on the brink of political catastrophe. Sickness spreads through the Misty Mountains, and to make matters worse...something is wrong with the children.
A story about dysfunction and trauma, healing, the breaking of trust and of regaining it, and also the birth of the Kingdom of Rohan, redemption, and hope...if I can pull it off.No graphic depictions, some dark content ahead, mature themes.

Summary
Zhongli sighs again, sounding exhausted. A third time, he says: “Baizhu,” and then: “Will you not be honest with me?”
The question makes Baizhu shudder. He gives in, then, to his base instinct to hide, pulling his knees up to his chest and wrapping his arms around them. So what if Zhongli sees how his vertebrae threaten to punch through his skin? Is that not as close to honesty as Baizhu can get?
Baizhu struggles a lot with receiving affection. Finally, he's brave enough to ask Zhongli for some help.

Changsheng had once remarked that Baizhu sleeps better when Zhongli is nearby.
“I would stay with him every night, then,” Zhongli had told her.
“He will not let you.”
Yes. Zhongli knows that, and he will not dare to intrude on his Beloved’s realm without his consent. He stays only when asked, and tells himself that is enough.
Zhongli wants Baizhu to stop insisting that he has to suffer alone. Baizhu is terrified of being vulnerable. Changsheng is so over their bullshit.
A getting together fic, of a sort. Because the Zhongzhu brainrot has me in a chokehold.

Some more exploration of early Partake!Brimbrond, because I missed writing these two idiots and I got to thinking that there's no way that first night went smoothly. Each chapter is a stand-alone ficlet, but of course they will all interconnect.
This fic has way more to do with To Partake than it has to do with Rings of Power, and could probably be read on its own from a Silmarillion perspective, just like To Partake, with the understanding that Elrond and Gil-Galad have had an incredibly toxic relationship for quite a while, and Tyelpe is helping Elrond recover. <3 <3 <3
