Summary
| Tooru rubbed his arms, grazing over the bluish purple smears that had bloomed more and more lately. Just practice- everyone knew receiving a volleyball could leave a mark, and his team never held back- he was a proud captain!
That's what he told his mother, in a lilting voice, light and airy and the complete opposite of the murky swamp that seemed to stew every time he lied. Every time he stepped on the scale and wrote the numbers painstakingly careful in a notebook. No smudging, clear progress. As if it wasn't already branded in his memory the second the digital flash of neon blue stuck, haunting and catching in his throat.
Again, again, again.

Summary
Iwaizumi's face is so much clearer now. He seems like a man of his regiment; sharp edges that could express benevolence, ultraviolence, unforgiving hazel eyes, the bearer of cruel tidings, knuckles firm and ruddy – all of which disproportionate to the way his hands would gently graze over Oikawa's deathly pale ones.

Summary
“Your thoughts are so loud,” Hajime mumbled beside him, his voice lazy with exhaustion that Oikawa couldn’t relate to.
“Sorry, must be the fact that I’m sleeping shirtless next to a stranger in a strange house in the middle of nowhere,” Oikawa bit back instinctually.
Hajime just snorted at him, as if he was making a joke. “‘S’not that bad. Who knows? Maybe a bit of the country life could do you some good.”
“Yeah? According to who?”
“Well you did run away from home,” Hajime pointed out, and, well, yeah, Oikawa couldn’t really argue with that point. “B’sides, doesn’t seem like life has treated you too kindly so far. Change of scenery might not be the worst thing in the world.”
---
Or: Oikawa Tooru, J-Pop idol extraordinaire and the most popular celebrity in the country, is at his absolute wits end with how his life has turned out. He’s miserable, depressed, traumatized, and unable to see a future where anything gets better. The solution, he decides, is running away and ending his life. He isn’t exactly grateful to end up in the countryside with the farmer’s boy, Iwaizumi Hajime, instead, but you know. He’ll get there in time.
