“Your performance,” Cid paused, and he could feel his brain metaphorically deflate as he spoke in untethered words, each one a kite cut loose from reason, “by the way, was very inspiring. Incredible. Seeing you perform gives me the motivation to deliver beauty. The kind of beauty that makes you think about it for days.”
Clive’s countenance was much more mellow off the stage, and Cid was given the wonderful privilege of seeing the corner of Clive’s lips quirk up. It was not quite a smile, but it was just close enough. Against all of the roses of the Rosaria Concert Hall, the sight before Cid nearly rivaled the supposed beauty of the music he had just talked about.
“I know,” Clive said smoothly. Then he brushed past Cid, who stood like a statue shocked into place.
In which Cid is a painter of nothing but blank canvas, until he meets Clive Rosfield, virtuoso pianist with eyes for no one but the stage.

Wriothesley blinked. He glanced at the offered hand and then back at the man’s masked face. “Excuse me?”
The man did not waver. His purple eyes stared straight into Wriothesley, just like how he did when they had first met. “May I have this dance, monsieur?”
Wriothesley used to think his life was as gloomy as Fontaine's weather. But lately he's starting to see some sunshine breaking through the clouds and rain.

Neuvillette’s gaze drifted from Wriothesley’s long dark lashes to his lips, pink and a little wet from the tea. Curved up slightly with a twinkle. Were they as soft as they looked? Would it taste like the cigarette he was smoking earlier?
“May I kiss you, Wriothesley?” Neuvillette whispered.
The smile on Wriothesley’s face grew. “That’s the first time you said my name,” he whispered back. He seemed to lean in, getting close to Neuvillette until their noses nearly touched. “Yes, you may.”
It's love at first sight for Neuvillette when it came to the brooding man who worked at the dog daycare. Things only escalate from there.

Summary
The world is divided in two halves--the human half, and the monster half. The only thing keeping the two sides from clashing is a perilous mountain range, known to the humans as the Edge of the World. A small town called the Roost overlooks the wilds from the peaks; it's known for being cold, dangerous, and full of people who don't belong anywhere else.
Doc is one of those people. He failed, once, and now he has placed himself into exile at the furthest reaches of the human world. The Roost is in need of a new doctor--their last was presumed eaten by werewolves. However, Doc's respite from society quickly turns sour as the werewolves strike again... and a horrible illness reappears out of his past, along with someone who was once a friend.

An amazing plot that had me hooked with each word, so enraptured I didn’t even take breaks in between reading— just like a true novel. The characters are wonderful, and the ending is more sweet than bitter, yet enough pain and tragedy is present for the story to feel real. A delight to read through and through.
