    Summary

After a fight, Alhaitham has a nightmare where he loses Kaveh entirely. Waking brings no relief - only a fear he can't shake, pushing him toward Kaveh's door while praying he hasn't already gone too far.

Instantly withdrawn, Kaveh rose to his feet, silently gathered his blueprints, and turned his back. Dragging a hand over his face, Alhaitham reached for the gentler words he should’ve used in the first place to try and undo the damage - but Kaveh cut him off with a quiet 'leave me alone' and retreated into his bedroom without a backward glance.

It hadn’t even been an insult, but it was somehow all the more piercing for its bare simplicity. In one solitary sentence, Alhaitham heard the echo of every fear he carried about himself - incapable of the softness required to hold something as bright as Kaveh’s trust without breaking it into pieces.

    Summary

Al-Haitham’s hand comes up to hold onto Kaveh’s. Within minutes, his breathing evens out and deepens in his sleep—only broken intermittently by his wheezes in between. Kaveh continues combing through Al-Haitham’s hair, up and down and up again. He slides his fingers through his bangs, rubs away the slight wrinkle near his brow, trails his fingers down the bridge of Al-Haitham’s nose, and traces over the curve of his cheek.

Al-Haitham shifts, mumbling in his sleep—hand tightening over Kaveh’s wrist.

Something painfully warm clicks in the softest parts of Kaveh’s heart.

(Love, in the form of unconditional touch.)

    Summary

Like Haitham would even care, Kaveh almost says, before remembering that the whole point is making everyone think Al-Haitham would, in fact, care.

“Oh, he’ll show up, all right,” he says instead. “He’s going to show up so hard, you don’t even know. Because he cares. So much. About me.”

His abductors trade looks with each other.

“Why do you think he’s into him?” the first man whispers, perfectly audible.

The other shrugs. “Maybe the ex-Acting Grand Sage likes blondes?”

Or: After the truth of his living situation finally gets out to the rest of Sumeru, Kaveh knows he has only one way to protect his reputation: convince everyone that he and Al-Haitham are married.

Too bad he never realized the risk of being the former Acting Grand Sage’s wife.

    Summary

What I wanted to write was a quick one-shot that explored the idea of Harry being the biological son of Voldemort, only Voldemort doesn't know he has a son and is also as evil as ever. Meanwhile, Harry is just a charismatic kid with a snake and ridiculously powerful magic.

It turned into a series rewrite.

    Here's book one, I guess.

Features Harry Potter trying to keep his friends from doing crimes, a tired Remus Lupin spontaneously adopting a traumatized child with absurd magical capabilities, Severus Snape doing the bare minimum which is still somehow more than what Dumbledore is capable of, and Harry's friends' growing exasperation with Harry's terrible decision-making skills.

In which Kaveh mistakenly takes on a commission that stipulates that he give his hand in marriage away, even though he lives with a roommate that can easily be mistaken for a husband. In revenge, the commissioner sets fire to their home.

    Or:

In which Alhaitham agrees to help Kaveh feign a fake marriage in order to lure out whoever made the mistake of threatening them.
