Kameko Beifong, the infamous head of the Beifong family, found herself in a very interesting situation. She had been chosen as the new Avatar's mentor, which was the last thing on the planet she wanted to be. She didn't have time to be a glorified babysitter; she had deeply personal matters to attend to, most of which would be very hard to take care of with the presence of a troublesome child.
Avatar Sawa, on the other hand, really just didn't know how she'd gotten there. One minute, she was a "normal" kid on Kyoshi Island; the next, she was being taken to Zaofu as the new Avatar to train under the head of the Beifong family. Despite the smiling faces she was met with, she felt in her heart that she didn't have what it took to be the Avatar. Even for all the sense this made, she couldn't picture herself living that kind of life.
Two women, of two generations, brought together by fate. In a world that is outwardly peaceful, their own emotions and inner tumult will take center stage as they walk down the path life sets before them. -
