Person B worries about Person A, but Person A assures them they’ll be alright. They both kiss as Person B continues to tend to Person A’s wounds."

Summary
Hermann's eyes burn. The world threatens to fall apart. He has lost everything in one fell swoop: prosthetic, Newt, chance of freedom.
And yet—
It doesn't.
It can't.
Because the salt might be dripping down his cheeks, but he can taste iron against his teeth.
For so long, Hermann believed that even if his father forced him to make the weapons, Hermann was working to get out of this situation. That he was working to use one of his trips to the village, one of the few times that the lock was undone, to escape his father and his fate as nothing more than an accomplice to terror.
But here his father goes, proving that Hermann is worth nothing.
And Hermann has to do everything he can to make up for what his mistakes caused.
He has to speak to the prince.
(Hermann has spent his life being forced to make weapons to kill dragons for his father's war, but he has found some small relief in writing secret letters to a dragonologist he's slowly falling in love with.
But when his father gets his hand on the secret to dragonsbane, Hermann finds himself needing to go to the prince's masquerade to stop him—and discovering secrets about the man he loves along the way.)

Summary
They've implemented a system over the past several months, specific to date night. If they impulsively have sex, that's fine, but for date night, one of them will choose their preference. The other always has the option to veto for any reason and there is a list of hard no's, but it certainly keeps things fresh and fun.
Besides, the day after Hermann can catalogue everything new he's learned or anything of note into his spreadsheet. It's comforting to have a low stakes spreadsheet all of one's own.
“I suppose it is,” Hermann responds, looking up at Newt over his readers. Newt's ideas were more…colorful in his creativity. He was more likely to ask for roleplay or to buy new toys. “What is on your mind for tonight?”
“Dunno,” Newt says, but something about his tone implies that he does, in fact, know exactly what he's going to ask.in which Hermann gets bred

The likelihood of them having more than an occasional half hour alone over the next few days seems slim and even though they’re free to do what they want with their nights, they’ll still be required to keep quiet. Besides, it is charming when Newt perches on his bed and all but presses his face against the glass and enthusiastically waves goodbye out the window, presumably to his father.
“Do you know how many hot guys I’ve thought about sneaking up here?” Newt asks, patting his bed.
“And how many people have you brought up here?” Hermann counters, sitting gingerly down.

They could do this, and then so much of Hermann's life could get easier. He could stop obsessing over Newton since, after all, they would be married. His father would no longer have the highest legal claim over him if he was in dire straits. "Fine," Hermann said, after what felt like long enough of a pause, even though it really wasn't. "But I have conditions."
Newton spread his hands, magnanimous now that he'd won. Hermann wanted to be irritated, and he kept a frown on his face for appearances, but inside, he felt like the glasses of champagne he had watched with such envy at the banquet—full of bubbles, effervescent.
"First, the truce only lasts tonight. Tomorrow, I make no promises. Second, the marriage comes with no other claims over each other. We do this, we make the appropriate arrangements, and we return to our lives as usual."
"Terms sound good to me as long as I can add one more."
Hermann raised his eyebrows, even though he knew Newton was only agreeing so easily because he had something truly heinous in mind. "Of course."
"We're getting married by an Elvis, and I want to check out a couple different ones to see which is the best. I refuse to settle for a subpar King."
