Saturday dinners have been special since long before Barry was born, and even now that he’s moved out of the house, they continue to be the Allen family’s primary point of connection. Starting Friday, Henry prepares vast quantities of food, aided by Nora, who, while rarely allowed in the kitchen, finds and annotates new recipes for them to try. Come Saturday evening, they tell Barry a time half an hour earlier than what they plan on, set the table, and wait to hear about his week.

Functionally, Helena thinks, what she said to Natalie is true. Helly is angry enough to try to kill her, but it’s a child’s anger. Helena used to get angry like that, that explosive, omnidirectional spite. It will burn out.
Oh, she can think of plenty of things she could do to her innie. But ignoring her is probably the cruelest. Helena doesn’t need to play the game; she’s the one who gets to go home at the end of the day. She will tame her malice, and harness it to better work.

The bittersweetness of Ariel's homesickness budging up against her love for Eric is so poignant 😭 especially in passages like this:
Eric sat back in his chair, late afternoon sun streaming down over his closed eyelids. Sparse threads of gray in his hair turned silver in the light. Ariel remembered when his face had been smooth and carefree. Now the lines on his forehead formed deep shadowed valleys. In that quiet moment, a mislaid piece of her heart said to her, Tell him! Tell him you want to leave. You can’t wait any longer. But Ariel couldn’t bear to think of what new lines it would form on his face, to tell him so. She reached for his hand instead.
She loves him!! She loves him so much and KNOWS him SO WELL, and little moments like this showcase that brilliantly before we even see her affirm that love later.
