Summary
Deep down he knows Saxon is right. What they did was wrong, it was a mistake they can’t fix or take back, and the only option they had left was to ignore it. But even deeper than that Lochlan has an ache that is so familiar to him, one that he’s only ever been able to soothe on that boat.
That ache pulls at his gut all over again as he watches a droplet of water fall from Saxon's hair and run down his neck to pool in his collarbone. He wants to taste it, wants to taste Saxon, all of him. He can’t pretend he doesn’t, and he can’t just lay here and do nothing.
The wildfire has already spread too far, and it’s only going to burn faster now, cover more and more ground. There was no ignoring it, no stopping it, no going back to normal. It was going to eat everything.
He has to let it. It’s the only real choice he has left, even if it means Saxon kills him for it.
