They smile at each other, air crackling with unspoken things that weigh heavy on the tip of his tongue. Simon bites his lips and his eyes wander down Wille’s chest for a second before sprinting back up and locking into his. Wille holds the heavy eye contact, trying to control his breathing when Simon’s smile turns into a knowing grin.
And that’s half the reason he hasn’t been able to stop thinking about him. Because he’d been catching Simon looking right back, too, all summer long. It feels like when they’re standing opposite each other on the court, laser focus, seeing right through him in a way only someone that knows him so well could. He catches his eyes on him at the most random times—when they’re out eating fries and milkshakes, or when Simon wakes him up when he sleeps over and his eyes linger on Wille’s chest, when they’re tipsy and dangerously clingy and Wille feels drunk on so much more than any amount of alcohol has ever done to him.

She tilted her head back and laughed at something Wille said, her hand brushing against his arm as she did it. Simon vaguely assigned her to a group of girls that he’d heard whisper in the sidelines as they walked past. Part of him wanted to walk right up to them, inserting himself and staking his claim. His stomach twisted into knots.

Summary
At almost 24, Simon feels ready to leave student housing and move into a real apartment. He finds the place of his dreams - but it comes with a roommate. A roommate who turns out to be none other than former Crown Prince Wilhelm.
After more than three years abroad, Wille hopes that the dust has settled over his abdication and he can finally start living a normal life which, to him, includes sharing an apartment.

“I think we should go camping!”
The statement was screeched over the deafening howls of the wind streaming fiercely through the rolled-down windows of the ancient Volvo, blending seamlessly into the harmonies of the song blasted on the flimsy radio. Wilhelm only caught the words when Felice twirled around in the passenger seat to parrot them. Her lustrous dark curls tangled into shimmery lip gloss and she reached to tuck the offending strands of hair behind her ear, allowing Wille a peek at the spark of sheer excitement swaying in her eyes.
(or: Wille, Simon, Sara and Felice decide to go back to Talludden as a reward for surviving an eventful school year.)

His rescuer is familiar. It’s the boy from his Spanish class, the one who always skips.
“Well?” The boy shakes him slightly, fear and slight anger in his eyes, “do you?”
“I-I don’t know.”
One thing is for sure- this boy certainly does not have a death wish. Everything about him is fighting desperately for life, from the brightness of his eyes, to the weight of the schoolwork in his single strapped backpack, to the slight bruise on his wrist. This boy is clinging to the world as if daring it to rip anything he’s fought for, anything he’s achieved, away.
