To keep him at arms length to make sure that his miscalculations wouldn’t hurt Itadori again, wouldn’t put him in danger. Megumi doesn’t want to lull him into any false sense of security that the world of Jujutsu is fun and welcoming and about saving the world, because it isn’t. But...
He’s clearly making an effort to be friends. Megumi isn’t - he isn’t a cruel person. Not to those that don’t deserve it, and he isn’t a robot either, despite the jokes his classmates make. Itadori doesn’t deserve it.
With a sense of finality, he thinks: Tsumiki wouldn’t like it if he were unkind to Itadori, when Itadori was being kind to him. And that settles it.

After years of fighting in a war, all Lance wants to do is kick back and actually enjoy his twenties, a goal made easier when he inherits a house of his own soon after returning to Earth. The problem now is that he's realizing how empty it is with only one person living in such a large space, and what better way to solve that than by inviting the only other ex-paladin living on his own to move into the spare bedroom? Wars never end neatly, and they rarely end quickly. It's kind of unfair that, after saving the universe, Lance still has to deal with evil plots, bad guys, assassination attempts, daring rescues, death, and bad dreams. Not to mention love. He thought he was done with all that.
