“Oh, I didn’t know that deer could be gay now too,” Sophia says confusedly, clearly still weirded the fuck out. “Love is love, I guess.”
Lara blinks. “What— okay, Sophia, no. I need you to lock in. That’s their username. And they’re evil. So I need to ratio them.”

Amanda knew what she wanted from a young age. She likes her life just fine. She loves her job, but her personal life is basically non-existent. She's not sad, but it's like she's always two steps away from being happy. She can't help but feel like there should be something more to her life than this.
In a world where they forgot how it feels like to want and be wanted, Amanda and Angela meet and start to believe in hope.

“Huh.” Angela isn't all that eloquent, but she looks up at Amanda, letting her know she's listening.
“It's going to be two years since I called it off in a week.” Amanda finishes her wine, too, setting both their glasses down before she continues, “He was… honestly, he was perfect at first. I kept thinking I didn't deserve him. So loving, he worshiped the ground I walked on.”
“At first,” Angela repeats, her hand soothing where it's been resting over Amanda's back.
“They’re always charming at first.” Amanda nods, agreeing.
