That was the first time he truly saw. The beautiful, golden eyes of someone who conceived life the same way he did. Progress was everything; legacy was all that mattered. There was no point in living if not for a purpose. Was it egotistical? Probably. Desperate? Certainly. And he could read them, the same convictions, right in that man’s anguish, in the subtle sigh that escaped from his lips just before he stepped into the abyss. Just before he stopped him.
Individually, they were destined to doom. But together, maybe…

“No. No one who's sane enough would accept me shooting them for practice.”
Dazai catches his leg as he kicks him again and throws him to the ground. Chuuya grumbles through his teeth, closing his eyes more out of anger than because the blow hurt. Fucker, son of a bitch.
Dazai crouches down next to him smiling. His smile is a strange gesture on his face.
“It's a good thing you have me, isn't it, Chuuya?” he singsongs, grabbing him by the arm to hurry him to straighten up with one hand while he tucks the other under his own coat, which hangs neatly over his shoulders.
Chuuya was fifteen years old when he shot Dazai for the first time.

“She’s very well trained, actually,” Chuuya countered haughtily, frowning as he gently pushed the animal off of him and gave Dazai his attention, “she was trying to show you affection, not that you’d know anything about that.”

Summary
The Armed Detective Agency receives a mission to investigate and take down an assassin group that has been targeting high-profile individuals through a very specific method: first, the target is sent into an unwakeable sleep for a week, and second, when they wake up, they are unable to speak. Third and last, they die of a heart attack two weeks later. Ranpo suggests negotiating with the Port Mafia for the aid of executive Chuuya Nakahara, wanting to have Double Black at their disposal. But when Chuuya arrives… he cannot speak.
Chuuya Nakahara has been targeted, and supposedly, he has two weeks left until he is killed.

In between carnival games and ice cream stands, Chuuya learns a thing or two at seventeen about normalcy, cotton candy, and hand-holding.

Just for a moment, the brunet’s eyes reflected the bright light from the overhead lights, a bright glow engulfing them. “It’s not that often I have the time to see you guys act so barbaric, it’s very entertaining.”
Atsushi gave the other a light shove. “Is that really what you’re here to see?”
Annoyed, Dazai moved his gaze with narrow eyes towards Atsushi. Before he could shoot back at him, a loud yell from the rink interrupted them. “THE FUCK ARE YOU LOOKING AT, YOU LOUSY PILE OF BANDAGES?!”

“Tsushima Shuuji,” Chuuya reads out loud. “A bright, optimistic young man with a pep in his step and a zest for life. Hang on–is this referring to you?”
“Unfortunately,” Dazai laments, sighing dramatically. “You just got away with ‘science nerd’ and ‘soccer player,’ but I’m supposed to be an artist! I hate art! It’s useless!”
“Shut the fuck up. That’s not the problem here. You? A ‘zest for life?’ Looking forward to each new morning? Hah! Rimbaud would sooner come back to life.”
Dazai turns to Chuuya with the barest facsimile of a smile painted over his lips.
“I,” he says sweetly, “am going to gut you open like a fish.”
Dazai and Chuuya are seasoned mafiosos at the ripe old age of almost-seventeen. They’ve fought gang wars, interrogated prisoners, and done all manner of unspeakable things. Now, they face their greatest challenge yet: going (undercover) to a real high school. With regular teens (who may or may not be desperately trying to get them to kiss).

After Hirotsu gives them their offerings, they exchange rings, and Dazai never, not once, breaks eye contact even as they're instructed to kiss. Chuuya expects a wet tongue in his mouth as some sort of demonstration of dominance, so he's surprised when Dazai's hand lifts to cover them both, and the only thing that's pressed to his lips — the corner of them, to be precise — is a dry, fleeting kiss.
And then it's done.
Chuuya is officially, irrevocably married to the one and only head of the mafia.
Or, an AU in which king of the sheep Chuuya has to marry port mafia boss Dazai to get one of his people out of jail.
