Overwhelmed by the sensation of Alhaitham’s breath against his skin, heart beating erratically, Kaveh grunted softly and tried to step over the fallen bucket - but the movement only pushed them closer, tangling their legs and trapping Alhaitham’s thigh firmly between his own.
“You’re not going to make it any bigger by squirming,” Alhaitham hissed, hand clamping down on Kaveh’s waist and holding him in place with a grip that had turned to steel.
Kaveh sucked in a sharp breath at the sudden pressure, his body reacting before his brain could catch up and sending a jolt of heat flaring beneath his skin. “I - gods, would you just -”
“Shh,” Alhaitham interrupted harshly.
“No, you shh,” Kaveh shot back in a whisper, bapping Alhaitham petulantly on the arm. “I think I can move my leg, just -”
Alhaitham exhaled a quick, frustrated huff and twisted his torso just enough to be able to slide one palm up from Kaveh’s side, tracing a distractingly firm line along his body before landing squarely over his mouth. “Shut up,” Alhaitham whispered directly into his ear, lips brushing just close enough to make the words feel like a threat.

“No!”
For a man of his stature, Wriothesley crosses the room at impressive speed. One hand clamps around Neuvillette's wrist, and the other snatches the note away just before it can fall to its burning demise. There's nowhere for Neuvillette to retreat— not unless he wants to take the note's spot in the fireplace— so he just braces himself on his feet as he parses Wriothesley's irate expression.
“What the hell are you doing?” Wriothesley demands as he straightens. “That's evidence.” He holds the note up and away, as if he's expecting Neuvillette to grab at it like a child whose toy has been confiscated.
“Evidence of what?” Neuvillette asks, astonished by the display of fervor from a man known for turning polite nonchalance into an art form. “It's not a crime to send a letter.”
“Letter?” Wriothesley growls. “I think you mean threat.”
Neuvillette receives a threatening letter, and Wriothesley makes some threats of his own.

“Well?” Kaveh echoes, and his voice is raspy.
He has a cup of — Archons, with all seriousness, what is in the cup? — he doesn’t seem to remember. He just takes it in his hand for an opportunity to quickly take a sip, because he needs a distraction, a… A something! Kaveh panics, quickly downing his drink — it doesn’t help his situation at all, something strong and bitter hitting his throat instantly as he coughs, avoiding looking at Alhaitham again, but Alhaitham gently pats his back.
What is wrong with him? No. Not like that. What is wrong with Kaveh?
“I think we can figure something out,” Alhaitham hums, tilting Kaveh’s chin up with his finger, and there’s a shadow of a smile on his lips.

He turns around slowly, as if in a dream, and sees a man he’s never met before. He would remember.
“Do I know you?” He asks, his voice flat, and the man gives him a sympathetic smile.
“No, I don’t think you do,” the man says, and there is still that gentle smile on his face. “But I know you.”
He has peculiar eyes, that man. One blue, one golden, like someone straight out of a fairytale, and Diluc can’t help but stare into them, even though the last thing he wants to do is to make eye contact with anyone.
Diluc's father is dead, and he is completely alone now - at least until a stranger turns up at the funeral and reveals a family secret.

Alhaitham tries a new drink at the tavern one night during their weekly game night with Cyno and Tighnari and unwittingly drinks far more than his usual limit of two glasses of wine. Kaveh, never having seen Alhaitham drunk before, is not only shocked by how affectionate he is, but the fact that he only seems to be that way with Kaveh.
“Where are you going? Stay.” Alhaitham knew he was whining, but in his intoxicated state, he really didn't care.
To his relief, Kaveh wasn’t irritated, smiling softly down at him. “I just have to pee, Haitham. I'll be right back,” he said gently. Gods, what right did Kaveh have being this beautiful?
Alhaitham mumbled something unintelligible under his breath, but reluctantly let go, watching Kaveh weave through the tables. His gaze lingered until the bathroom door swung shut behind Kaveh, slumping down in his seat and sighing.
“Damn, drunk Alhaitham's even further gone for Kaveh than sober Alhaitham. Didn't even think that was possible,” Tighnari mused, raising an eyebrow at him knowingly.
