Summary
Alex hasn't spoken with his grandparents in nine years when he gets the news: they're dead.
Good news? They left him the house.
When Alex moves to Maine to settle the affairs of his grandparents, he finds far much more than a house. For one thing, the lawyers forgot to mention that they'd been murdered. As Alex settles into the community, the facts of the case start to unfold in front of him, showing him that not everything is as it seems in this small town.

Alex reached across the bed and grabbed his phone, a sticky-note being pushed to the side of his desk without notice. He opened the groupchat with his friends and his stomach nearly dropped; it was the exact same conversation he’d had in his dream. He looked to the ground and saw the same boot he’d tripped on only a few minutes ago-classic black Doc Martens splattered in dried clay and glaze. A deep seated dread filled Alex’s chest and he texted his friends with shaky hands.

Or, well, more so she was treading water just to not drown in all of the changes. If she had thought before she would have any kind of upper hand with the knowledge she had from the Anime- she was wrong.
She was so, incredibly, wrong.
There was no safety net of this world being make-believe. Every danger was real and held the potential to cut her adventure short. With every new adversary, Nova was shown over and over again how much she did not belong.
