Aziraphale’s hand fell on the top of Crowley’s thigh, far too high up for it to be a benign, comforting action. Crowley tensed, the muscle of his leg clenching beneath his hand. “Pull over, please?” He asked, an instruction hidden between polite, sweet words. A command phrased as a question.
Crowley's swallowed deeply. “Oh.” He replied, his voice weak. It felt like hours that the demon was lost in a trance, and Aziraphale nearly pulled his hand away and apologized for, apparently, misreading hundreds of years of hints - when Crowley quickly jerked the steering wheel to the right, the Bentley coming to a screeching halt in front of a burning building. For a moment that felt like an eternity, neither moved. Aziraphale stared at Crowley, and Crowley stared out the windscreen.

Summary
Crowley shouldn't listen to the Velvet Underground--especially when he's anxious, or melancholy, or pining over an angel and doubting his footing in the world. Which pretty much means he should never listen to them. He certainly shouldn't listen while he's holding an immensely powerful book of dark spells and itching for a wallow in self-pity. He shouldn't think of Aziraphale with every word of every love song, frightened by the depth of his feelings for the angel and how it could all turn pear-shaped. No, that would be a terrible plan.

Aziraphale looked up, momentarily caught off guard. His brow furrowed faintly, and he straightened in his seat as though he’d misheard. His hands drifted to the hem of his waistcoat, fingers beginning to fidget in that habitual, unconscious way they did whenever he was processing something unexpected.
“Oh,” he said, blinking. “I wasn’t even doing anything.”
Crowley gave a small shrug, lips twitching into a crooked half-smile. “Yeah, I know.”

“Rugby’s been pretty intense,” Nick admits, arching an eyebrow. “Enjoying the view then?”
“Always,” Charlie replies without missing a beat, though his voice is less teasing now. “Just…you’re okay, aren’t you? They aren’t working you too hard over there? You’re taking care of yourself?”
There’s worry injected into each word. Nick’s throat feels tight. Is he taking care of himself? He hardly sleeps, doesn’t eat as much as he really should be with how hard he’s exercising, pushes himself more than ever at practice, and hasn’t made a single friend in nearly two months.
But, none of that is anything Charlie can fix. He can’t change Nick’s course load or his rugby schedule or work, or any of it. He can’t force Nick to make friends or put himself out there. There’s nothing he can do so what is the point of burdening him with it?
“Nick?” Charlie prompts when he doesn’t respond, now seeming flat-out alarmed more than worried.
“I’m fine,” Nick says quickly, “sorry. I’m just really tired, Char.”
