He had quit volunteering at the library– he couldn’t handle the walk there anymore, too many people, too much noise, too many opportunities for ambush. He’d stopped leaving his apartment during the day entirely, deciding it best to get groceries delivered, rather than freak out in the check-out line.
Because of this, Jason had some spare time, and if he preferred to utilize that time by being unconscious, that was no one’s concern but his own. He needed the extra sleep anyway– his nightmares had been getting worse, waking him up, drenched in sweat, with the taste of bile surfacing in the back of his throat.

Summary
A near exact replica of the previous Robin’s, the cape and its colors were the only things about the costume that remained the same when Tim picked up the mantle.
The boots had changed, the pants– or the previous lack there of– had changed, the atmosphere surrounding the job entirely had grown dark and somber, but that cape was still the same, and so was the little Robin that trailed after it.

He can’t take it anymore. Everything that he worked for, all for it to be for nothing at all. Why did he think Bruce would avenge him? Prove that he loves him? Why couldn’t Bruce kill the Joker? If Batman, the self-proclaimed protector of Gotham couldn’t, why couldn’t Bruce Wayne, his unofficial adoptive father do it? Bruce is the one who compartmentalizes the two identities and acts like they’re different people. If Batman couldn’t kill Joker, why can’t Bruce?
He feels something roll down his face, and that’s when Jason realizes that he’s crying. His plan didn’t work. Months, if not years of planning for an ending he fully believed in—gone. Destroyed. What was he going to do now? Kill Joker himself? Jason doesn’t know. He doesn’t know. He can’t deal with life right now, and if anything, he wishes that building killed him.
That’s when it clicks. He doesnt have to keep going. He has a way out. He just has to make it to the kitchen.
