I don't actually have the energy to write/complete Dikaryon traditionally. So instead, I'll post anthological (heh) fragments of the story here in non-chronological order, when our disability allows us and we feel like writing. Expect long gaps, incompletion, and experimentation.
Dikaryon* is a story about a pair of girls who share a body, rescued by the affini from a miserable rebel-controlled synthcube farm/factory. One headmate, Something Glowing, a silly little creature at heart, takes quickly to their affini rescuer Awn Samara, becoming her pet, while Lines of Flight, the self-declared "responsible, mom-ish" member of the system, wants to be independent, and so The Girls alternate "front days" and habs. But after months of living a split life, Lines realizes she envies what Glow has, and asks Awn to teach her how to be small and helpless, to teach her how to unlearn years of defining herself as the "protector" of her system. Meanwhile, a soft bioengineer trans guy named Winnow Weekend gets taken in by a crowlike affini xenobotanist, Corax Carex.
