"Hey." His voice is hesitant, and there's a pause before he rests his hand — warm, warm — on her arm, gaze softening slightly as he shifts down until he's holding her hand gently. " You okay? "
Something shifts, clicks. The turning of a gear, and flipping of a switch, and Chiaki nods, turning to him with a small smile. She shuts her eyes as her smile widens slightly, even if just so she doesn't have to see Hinata's frown, the way his eyebrows crease in concern.
"Yep." Her tone is deceptively light as she tilts her head slightly, feeling the cold metal of her hairclip press against her head. " I'm okay. Just totally surprised. Great job, Hinata. "
It's a bittersweet congratulations. She shouldn't have lost — it's unfathomable. It goes against logic — she's the Ultimate Gamer, she isn't supposed to lose.

telemachus had never been anything short of adventurous. even as a young child, he found entertainment in finding new cracks and creviced in the palace, or little spaces behind walls and trees outside he could squeeze into to avoid having to do something.
when odysseus returned, the boy was a man — and a fine one, at twenty years old — and his adventuring spirit hadn't diluted in the slightest.
( maybe that was why. if odysseus could convince himself that was the reason, then it would be fine. )

he saw the same horror dawn on polites and his chest tightened to an almost suffocating degree.
odysseus didn't seem to share their same worry, standing at the back of the boat, he turned his gaze to face the men, expression impassive—

"bennett?" the white-haired girl questioned, the smile evident in her tone. "are you dead?"
an annoyed groan was the response, and then another harsh retching sound. 'charlotte' had entered the bathroom to the sight of the orange-suited worker bent over the toilet, vomit somehow staining the tub and mirror along with the (formerly perfectly white) sink. shakily adjusting his posture to glare at the newcomer, bennet sneered, vomit still spilling over from his mouth and staining his orange suit green like toxic sludge.
"go away, human maggot." he spat, though the venomous tone was lessened by the bleary look in his eyes.
"what a meanie!" 'charlotte' chirped cheerfully, lacing her hands behind her back and leaning forward to smile sweetly at bennett before gasping, clasping her hands. "oh, oh! don't tell me you're going through withdrawal syndrome?"
