“Oh my God,” he exhales voicelessly.
There’s a pale green eye glowering at him, fierce under a heavy, charcoal-scaled brow. Even as he watches, it blinks shut, and the dragonet burrows further under the sheets, disappearing from view.

Who would you become, if you didn't know who you were?
Sherlock, early in his career as the consulting detective, gets in over his head and is saved by another young man who calls himself John Smith. John has no memories of his past or his identity. Sherlock undertakes to discover who John is and why he woke up in a graveyard four weeks ago with no idea how he got there. At the same time, Mary Morstan seeks Sherlock's help in solving her father's disappearance.
It is quickly clear that John and Mary's cases are entangled. Sherlock uses every resource he has to unwrap layers and layers of deceit, seeking the answers that will convince John of what Sherlock and Mary already begin to sense: that John is a man to be trusted, relied on, and loved.
A mash-up of 'The Sign of the Four', 'The Bourne Identity', and 'The Winter Soldier', with ACD-canon stuffed into the joins.
