Xingqiu is smart, can hold his own in battle, and has his wits about—which is another way of saying he’s smart, but besides being a huge book nerd and a martial arts enthusiast, Chongyun can’t really think of any other words he can use to describe him right now. But, well, the fact still stands that Xingqiu is someone he could rely on. Xingqiu is, after all, the son of the owner of the Feiyun Commerce Guild. Of course he could navigate any sort of situation. So in case anything does go wrong like his gut feeling is very eagerly telling him it would, he has Xingqiu. What more could he possibly ask for?
in other words, xingyun during the events of 1.1, because god knows we need more of these two.

(seriously, this was so sad. amazing nonetheless but i was definitely reminded i cant handle sad stories.)Chongyun gnawed at his fingernail. He hopes that was ok for a comment? He reads fanfiction often enough, but hasn’t commented before, and has often been scolded for being too formal online, so he tried to tone it down. rainysword wouldn’t reply for hours, if at all, so he really should do something else instead of sit around and worry about it-

Xingqiu had told Chongyun, all those years ago, most of the truth - that he’d gotten his Vision in the rainstorm that had pummelled Liyue Harbor while Chongyun had been recuperating from his disastrous Dragonspine expedition, that perhaps even the Archons had known not to separate Xingqiu and Chongyun in any way. It had been half a joke, but Chongyun had accepted it with a pleased smile.
He doesn’t know what it says about him that he remembers, with aching clarity, that moment where he’d been so coldly angry about not being able to protect Chongyun that he’d attracted the attention of the Archons themselves. Every time he touches his Vision, he gets a flash of that frigid, relentless part of himself.
And it feels ugly.

When he lifts his head, Xiangling is looking at him with an expression of obvious pity.

About to become a published author in Inazuma, Xingqiu still can't form the sentences needed to tell Chongyun how he feels.
