Maybe this was the plan, Tadashi thought dimly, as Ainosuke grasped the front of his pyjama shirt and pulled him closer, though whose plan it was he couldn’t say. This was the note Ainosuke left for him in the morning, this was Tadashi’s refusal to leave. They knew that if they ended up here, more alone than they’d ever been in their lives, in the quiet, in the dark, closer than they’d ever dared be, then this would be the result.
Ainosuke runs away from home, and Tadashi tracks him down, certain he can convince him to stay.

Summary
There once was a young gardener, who toiled in the palace gardens. He collapsed into his quarters at night with hands scarred and sun-tanned, but his heart content. The thing that made his work worthwhile was the young prince who adored the gardens and grounds. They were of an age and had even stolen apples together as children.
One evening, the palace was to hold a ball for all the people of the land, with the special intention of finding Prince Ainosuke a bride.
“And the party?" asked the prince, after asking Tadashi to choose a rose for his buttonhole. "Shall I see you there?”
Tadashi’s mouth fell open. “Me, your majesty?”

Summary
Ainosuke must have believed he could distract Tadashi with oysters and alcohol and that this would all go very smoothly, and he would have been right. But Ainosuke could not distract himself from his own nerves. He’d had a glass and a half of champagne and had been distractedly quiet for some time, studying Tadashi as he ate, inhaling and rising up every so often as if to speak, and then looking around instead with a shake of his head. Eventually, after tracing a fingernail along the wooden picnic bench’s surface for some time, he spoke up.
“I don’t know if you remember,” he said, oddly loud and fast. “It was some time ago. The first time we ate oysters together.”
