"God, it’s so painfully, achingly obvious. It’s staring right at him at that moment, etched in Will’s innocuous words. He basically spent the last few months digging himself into an endless pit of his own making. Why couldn’t he be like him? Why couldn’t he be brave and face what he feels and what he is, instead of using El and Will as a mirror of who he wanted to be?
He can feel shameful tears rolling down his face, getting into his ears. He can’t find it in him to look at Will when he speaks, keeps his voice purposely low so it can’t break. 'Yeah, that might be it. Thanks. I know what I need to write, now. I know how to fix the ending.'
He hears Will shift a little, his hand brushing against Mike’s shoulder when he tucks it back under his cheek. 'What are you gonna write?' The words are spoken in an even, soothing cadence, as if Will were afraid of scaring off Mike."

Mike leaves for college and keeps unraveling until he has no choice but to stop being afraid.

Summary
Mike has spent months ignoring what he feels when he looks at Will. Months pretending that the way his heart races doesn't mean anything. That "best friends" is enough.
Then Will uses his powers to save them all, and Mike can't stop watching. Can't stop wanting.
When Mike walks downstairs and sees Will changing his shirt—sees the freckles scattered across his back like stars—everything he's been denying comes crashing down.
Will knows. He's always known. And he's done waiting.

Summary
“Okay, I don’t ‘like to be manhandled’–”
Will sat suddenly, bracketing Mike’s legs between his own and using two hands on his shoulders to flip them until Mike was lying horizontally on the sofa with Will on top of him. Mike gasped, the breath knocked out of him, and was once again rendered speechless.
“You were saying?”
“Okay fine!” Mike acquiesced, “But it’s not my fault you got so strong all of a sudden!”
Will rolled his eyes fondly.
“I didn’t ‘get strong’, Mike. I’ve been like this since Cali. You just chose not to notice,”
“Yeah, well, it’s sorta hard to hide your feelings when you’re daydreaming about your best friend’s biceps every other minute,”
Will flushed then, eyes widening. His heart did a funny little jump, and he felt tingly all over.
“My biceps?”
“...Among other things,”______________
Or, Mike has been acting weird since Will realised he had powers. Will thinks it's because he's scared. In reality, Mike is just whipped.

It was only a matter of time until this happened, and Will should’ve been more careful, should’ve known that the one time he doesn’t patrol with Mike that it would happen again, and that Mike wouldn’t be carrying his song with him. Will has noticed, over the past few weeks, a shift in Mike – away from his old, emphatic self, to a Mike that’s more withdrawn, that always looks tired or lost in thought or both. And, look – Will knows that the apocalypse is never kind, not to anyone, but it’s especially concerning to see Mike act this way at strategy meetings, at the few DND games they get to play when there’s a lull in action, when he’s doing something he’s interested in.
Will has noticed, and he’s not an idiot – everyone told him how much Mike wanted him back when he was taken, how furious Mike was with anyone who said he was dead. But Dustin told him, one night, about the quarry, the way Mike hadn’t even hesitated to step off, like he wanted to die.

Instead, he turned to the cabinet, took out a glass, and opened the fridge to grab the orange juice.
“What’d else she want?”
“Nothing.”
Daryl turned from his skillet and looked at Carl with question.
“Who walks into a diner and orders nothing but a glass of pulpy citrus?” He whispered.
“Our orange juice doesn’t have pulp in it.” Carl whispered back.
“That must be it.” He paused. “Why don’t we have pulpy orange juice?”
“Because you hate pulp, I believe your exact words were ‘Pulpy orange juice is the citrus equivalent of drinking someone’s blood as well as their bowels’ hence, zero pulp.”
Daryl nodded. “Right. How could I forget?”

She knows where she is. At least, that’s what she’s told the flurry of doctors and nurses that have come in to see her. They just ask her questions, but they won’t answer any of hers.
There’s a lot of things that Tai knows now that she didn’t know before. The first thing she noticed when they were rescued was how dirty she was. Their saviours, if that’s what they’re calling themselves, had skin that was almost translucent, soft and smelling of soap. She hadn’t smelt that in a while. None of them had.
Another medical professional pushes their way into her room. She ignores them, feeling only the twitching of the drips that are plugged into her arm. ‘Feeling okay, sweetie?’

“What are you doing?” His voice is shaking and barely audible. And Mike’s eyes finally lift from Will’s lips back up to his eyes.
