“I don’t think anyone’s ever truly painted you, actually,” Daniel muttered to no one but himself. The room was empty and the one person who needed to hear those words could not read his mind. “Not until now, that is.”

Daniel looks debauched, in just his underwear and loose Neil Young shirt. One Hanes socked foot is shaking against the edge of a snake plant pot. He still buys packs of socks from Target even though Lestat bought him about a dozen pairs from Hermes as a gift last year. It’s out of spite he still buys them, he likes them. The other one must still be lying lost in the bedroom.
This all started there in bed about 15 minutes ago. Armand’s blood-rimmed eyes looked forlornly up at Daniel. Not the 500-year-old vampire, but the ripe soft features of the 20-something he was when Marius turned him. It was as if Daniel wasn’t even in the room. He had donned the skin of another completely.

Armand had everything he could ever ask for in his second chance at life. A home to call his own, freedom, a husband that loved him. He didn't need anything else.
Or so he thought...
When Armand's Heats continue to spiral in ferocious continuity. Daniel and Armand have to face some hard truths. They wanted the Alpha next door. The last thing Armand thought he needed was an Alpha, but with his husband by his side.
Maybe Louis wasn't so bad....

Louis is too shocked to respond immediately. The voice is faint, but it’s not hard to extrapolate when he’d been listening to it dissect his entire undeath for the more tumultuous part of the past month. All he can blurt, both out loud and through the connection, is, “Daniel?”. Lestat squawks something from the shower.
Thank fuck, Daniel answers, bright with relief. Then a moment of long silence.
So. Slight, uh. Hiccup.
Louis takes the confirmation with all the grace of a brick shattering through a window. “No,” he says, “no, he didn’t.”

Lestat stares at him unblinkingly, before sneering. “Oh, I see why Armand wants you. You’re a sick fucker, aren’t you? You were even as a human.”

Rashid sighs in a way that is so artfully restrained it comes all the way back around and makes him seem like a diva. “I hold a PhD in cryptozoology.”
