Summary
During Link's travels, he hears rumors and stories about the adventures of the “revived champion knight of Hyrule.” It’s a role he takes seriously, but he keeps hearing about how the hero recently came to a village…one he’s sure he hasn’t been to recently. Or how the hero has saved people when he knows he was somewhere else at the time. Suddenly, everywhere he goes, he hears about this hero going places and doing things he knows he hasn’t done.
Thankfully, that person isn’t doing anything horrible in his name. In fact, it seems like they’re genuinely trying to help. Yet, it seems they’re always just barely missing each other. It isn't until after the upheaval that Link and the mysterious “champion” finally meet. Out on a mission to help the monster-hunting crew stationed in Hebra, he finally gets to meet them, a farmer turned adventurer turned warrior dedicated to helping this land.
Too bad they’re a bit rough around the edges, brimming with pride and ego by the handful. Now that they’ve finally met, they can't seem to get rid of each other. Is courage really that different from pride at the end of the day?

These three were destined to clash in a long-foretold battle. Yet, unbeknownst to them, another would intervene—and her fate would become forever entwined with theirs, binding her soul to the same eternal curse that the three bearers of the Triforce were doomed to endure.

Summary
You and Link are travelling companions (in any of the Zelda game universes really). One day when gathering firewood, Link finds a waterfall perfect to take a shower in, and believes he has enough time before heading back to yours and his camp. But when you think he's taking longer than he should be in the forest, you go looking for him... not expecting to find him the way you do.

He picks up the quill and scrawls a fast sentence: ‘my name is Link.’
“Link,” you say aloud, “that’s a nice name.” Something in the back of your mind gives a small wriggle, like a memory that was trying to stand out. You had a feeling that you must have heard his name before, or perhaps you’d just met someone with the same name. Maybe someone in the nearby Hateno Village. But you had never been good at pairing names with faces, and you had never stayed in the town long enough to make any friends.
When you look up once more you see that he has a curious expression on his face, as if there’s a question he’d like to ask.
OR
Link washes ashore near your cottage after a nasty fight at sea, and you take it upon yourself to tend to his wounds once he falls sick. Having only just moved to Hyrule, you know very little of its history, and next to nothing about the Calamity or the Upheaval. This makes Link interested in you- in someone who has no idea that he's the Hero of Hyrule.
