Max almost choked in surprise. He turned to Charles again and Charles was leaning back in his chair, squinting into the telescope, which was pointed right up above him.
"Yeah?" Max managed to say.
Charles put down the telescope and nodded. "I used to get these really nice flowers on my skin. And really beautiful, intricate patterns. I loved them. I took them as little gifts from my soulmate to me."
"That's nice," Max smiled. He hadn't imagined it would make him so happy that Charles liked his little skin drawings.
"They've stopped, though." Charles absentmindedly ran his fingers over his arm. "I don't know why. Maybe they got busy. I hope they're fine."

The cell where Obi-Wan has been confined is empty, barren, nothing but invisible walls and sleek floors and air that glides too smoothly in his lungs. It’s a far cry from Jabiim, with its crowd of people, its craggy rock faces with their symbols of hope and the heavy, water-rich atmosphere that caught on every breath.
It hardly matters. Obi-Wan barely notices. Vader is all there is, tall and unmoving through the force field barrier, shoulders an obsidian screen. There is everything between them and nothing at all—a lifetime of love and ten years of hate and a mere handful of inches.
Or, Obi-Wan surrenders to Vader on Jabiim in exchange for everyone else's freedom.

“That it definitely did.” His auburn brows knit together on his forehead and he missed the way Anakin’s eyes darkened and his nostrils flared. He entirely missed the way those black wings raised as if in mild offense, which didn’t make sense anyways.
Anakin’s own brows pinched together at how dense his master could be, he almost wanted to reach through their bond to show him just what he smelled like to him. The black winged man cleared his throat, mind made up as he set his shoulders in determination, and corrected himself by saying, “sorry, what I meant was, you smell karking amazing.”
