“Of course!” Amber beams. “You’re such a good friend, Eula.” If their exchange had been a text conversation, she would have been punctuating every sentence with a smiley face.
“Right,” replies Eula, in a weird, strained tone. “Yep. Mhm. We are indeed good friends.”

Summary
Ranboo sleeps troubled dreams that melt into wispy monsters with exploded jaws, an endless pit, lined with bedrock, that swallows his heart whole, and (as of late) coarse pale yellow stone and spires that gleam with glass-captured stars, succulent purple fruits bursting to life on scraggly tall trees that scrape the sunless sky. There are shelled beasts spitting cloud bullets that lift you, weightless, into the air, and static white rods glistening bizarrely at every corner. He calls it all nonsense but stores every last vision in his heart anyway.
And then one night, the void speaks back.

Summary
It tears at him from all sides. His bones knit together again and he relearns how to breathe and everything grows - almost 20 years of living lapse in an instant. Wilbur screams and gnashes his teeth and hurts as he reforms, pulsing and breathing and alive.
What choice does he have? Wilbur’s always known that his curiosity would be his own undoing. Perhaps, had he not taken the smoke-ridden route that he did, this was how the universe would have ended things with him.
The heels of his boots thud gently against a blackstone floor. Walking into the prison is not too unlike being swallowed by some enormous predatory beast, he muses.

"And then there's a customized copy of PONY PALS, a gift to you on your 14th birthday from the slippery Mr. Strider. Each page contains lovingly hand-written commentary on the deeds of this intrepid young horse. Later, about halfway through the book, rather than see the gag through to the bitter end, Strider began pasting over entire pages of original text with his own completely rewritten version of the story, while keeping all the chapter titles. His revision is a tough, emotionally draining read. But it's cathartic, in all the worst ways possible.
He tends to get carried away with his projects."Note: this work is an altered book, and it plays on the physical relationship between the original pages and the edited text. As such, it's presented as a series of images. Reading the images is the only way to get the full experience, but I'm aware that some people can't/don't want to read it that way. So if that's the case, you can skip to chapter 13, which is a text-only version of the story, including rough descriptions of the most important illustrations.
