In the late 80's, Cupid's Tyranny was all the rage! Lead singer, Stede Bonnet—formally know as Cupid's Lover—, was in love with the up-and-coming lead singer of Queen Anne's, Blackbeard! And what a pair they were!
They proved that. . Cupid exists, truly. That two people cut from different cloths could just. . exist and just be with one another.
So, when "the inevitable, foreseeable" (as said by bandmate Israel Hands, known as Blackbeard's First-Mate,) breakup happened, fans of Cupid's Tyranny and Queen Anne's Revenge were distraught! But. . what happened? How did it happen? And why did it happen?

Summary
Fifteen years after the world's messiest divorce, Izzy has found himself to be quite content with the little life he's created. He loves his friends, his work, his idyllic seaside home - and although it's been hard, he's done his best to put the past exactly where it belongs. In the past.
That is, until, his ex-husband moves in next door with the man he left him for.
Suddenly Izzy's world is thrown into turmoil once again. He'd much rather ignore him than bring up all of those painful memories, but it seems that Edward is determined to reconcile things between them in order to make up for how badly their relationship ended. It doesn't help that Izzy - although he's loathe to admit - is still hopelessly in love with the man who broke his heart, and is terrified of it being shattered all over again.
There’s no way that they can work things out well enough to be friends, and they could certainly never be more than that again, right?

Stede had that look again. He was going to cry. “I haven't been in my fair share of scraps. First one, actually. Unless you count my father, but… I never fought back. Not once. I've never had to fight for my life before. Didn't do very well, by the way. I don't know if you can tell, but I kind of lost.” Stede sniffled, his eyes welling up with tears.
Izzy would never understand why, but in that moment he felt the need to make this whole situation a little more bearable for the other man. It wasn't Stede’s fault Ed chose him, and while a part of him still resented him, he didn't think it would be completely fair to be a dick to him while he was so vulnerable. Izzy took Stede's hand he just cleaned up and looked at it. “I dunno, looks like you got a good punch in there. Not bad for your first scrap. Nobody wins every fight.”
Stede choked back a sob, a tear sliding down his face. “I don't want to be alone right now.”
TL;DR
The fic where Izzy is very sick and just about over life when his ex-husband's boyfriend shows up at his doorstep, beaten, broken, and scared after being attacked outside of a bar. Ed is out of town and Izzy has no other option but to take in the man who took everything from him.
